Agwa Central Union Reaffirms Commitment to Security, Seeks Stronger Partnership with Imo Police Command

‎The Agwa Central Union (ACU) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting security initiatives in Imo State following a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Audu Garba Bosso, psc(+), mnips, at the Command Headquarters in Owerri.

‎The delegation, led by the National Secretary of the Union, Engr. Paschal Ekenze Obodo (MNSE, COREN), visited the Commissioner of Police on June 3, 2026, to formally congratulate him on his appointment and to strengthen collaboration between the Police and the Agwa community in addressing security challenges.

‎Members of the delegation included HRH Eze Chima Azubuike, Ohanyere I of Ubah Agwa and Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers of Agwa Clan; HRH Eze Dr. Albanus Ozuruoha, Eze Ugochinyere of Uwaorie Agwa and Secretary of the Council of Traditional Rulers; Prince Malachi Asor, Regent of Obudi, Agwa Ancient Kingdom; and Mr. Leonard Ajokubi, Public Relations Officer of the Agwa Central Union.

‎Speaking on behalf of the people of Agwa Clan, Engr. Paschal Ekenze Obodo expressed appreciation to CP Audu Garba Bosso for the warm reception accorded to the delegation. He noted that the people of Agwa Clan remain committed to supporting security agencies through intelligence sharing, community-based initiatives, and active participation in lawful programmes aimed at promoting peace and public safety.

‎Engr. Obodo described Agwa Clan as one of the largest and most strategic oil-producing communities in Imo State and reiterated the community’s determination to work closely with security agencies to maintain peace, stability, and sustainable development within the area.

‎He also commended the Divisional Police Officer of Agwa Division, SP John Philips, for his professionalism, dedication, and efforts in addressing security concerns within the community. The ACU National Secretary further appealed for the deployment of additional police personnel, operational vehicles, and modern crime-fighting equipment to strengthen security operations and improve response capabilities across the area.

‎In their separate remarks, HRH Eze Chima Azubuike and HRH Eze Dr. Albanus Ozuruoha reaffirmed the support of the traditional institution and the people of Agwa Clan for the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies. They assured the Commissioner of Police of the same cooperation and partnership extended to previous police leadership in the collective pursuit of peace and security across Imo State.

‎Responding, CP Audu Garba Bosso expressed appreciation to the Agwa Central Union delegation for the visit and their demonstration of support for the Police. He assured the delegation of his commitment to an open-door policy, effective community policing, and stronger engagement with stakeholders across the state.

‎The Commissioner emphasized that security remains a shared responsibility and called on community leaders, traditional institutions, youth groups, and residents to continue working closely with law enforcement agencies to combat crime and protect lives and property.

‎CP Bosso also urged residents to remain vigilant and security-conscious, stressing the importance of the “See Something, Say Something” principle in preventing crime and enhancing public safety. He encouraged sustained intelligence sharing and community support for security agencies, assuring the delegation that the Imo State Police Command would continue to strengthen partnerships with communities in the interest of peace, safety, and sustainable development.

‎The visit highlighted the growing importance of community-police collaboration in addressing security challenges and fostering a safer environment for residents and investors across Imo State.
