Three serving members of the House of Representatives believed to be loyal to Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, have reportedly been disqualified by the APC screening committee ahead of the party’s primaries scheduled for tomorrow.
The affected lawmakers are Hon. Anderson Alisson, Hon. Awaji-Inombek Abiante, and Hon. Boma Goodhead. Sources within the party said the trio did not scale through the screening process conducted by the committee overseeing the House of Representatives primaries.
Meanwhile, several politicians considered allies of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, were cleared to participate in the exercise.
Among those reportedly cleared are Hon. Hart Cyril, Hon. Blessing Amadi, Hon. Dumnamene Deekor, Hon. Martin Amaewhule, Hon. Solomon Bob, Hon. Uche Felix Nwaeke, and Hon. Victor Chukwuemele Obuzor.
Hon. Martin Amaewhule, who currently serves as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, is expected to replace Hon. Kingsley Chinda, who had earlier obtained the APC governorship nomination forms.
Party sources also disclosed that other loyalists of the FCT Minister were cleared to contest in constituencies linked to the three disqualified lawmakers.
The development is seen as the latest twist in the political realignments that followed the prolonged crisis within the Rivers State political structure. The affected lawmakers were among those who openly supported Governor Fubara during the height of the political dispute in the state.
They were also reported to be among the federal lawmakers who defected alongside the governor to the APC amid ongoing political tensions.
In a related development, another lawmaker aligned with Governor Fubara, Hon. Boniface Sunday Emerengwa, is said to have obtained Senate nomination forms. However, the party is yet to release the final list of cleared aspirants.
