Residents of Abuja are beginning to experience relief as the retail price of cooking gas continues to decline following recent increases that pushed costs to nearly N2,000 per kilogram.
Market checks indicate that the average retail price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), commonly known as cooking gas, is now around N1,498 per kilogram in many parts of the Federal Capital Territory.
Industry stakeholders attributed the price reduction to improved supply chains, increased product availability from both domestic producers and imported supplies, as well as lower depot prices.
The improved supply has helped stabilize the market, easing the acute scarcity that previously forced many households to seek more expensive or less environmentally friendly cooking alternatives.
However, stakeholders noted that prices still vary across different locations within Abuja due to transportation costs, retailer margins, and other logistical factors.
Despite these variations, industry operators expressed optimism that the market will remain stable if current supply levels are sustained, providing continued relief to consumers struggling with the rising cost of living.
