Dibiagwu, Nwosu, Nnani, Others Pay Last Respects as Chinwendu Mbachu Was Buried in Agwa

UMUKPO, AGWA — Prominent political leaders, government officials, community stakeholders and hundreds of mourners on Saturday gathered at Umukpo in Uwaorie Autonomous Community, Agwa Clan, Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, to bid farewell to the late Mrs. Chinwendu Mbachu (Née Abiaziem), whose death at the age of 35 has thrown her family and community into mourning.
The funeral on Friday, July 2026, attracted sympathisers from across Agwa Clan, Oguta Local Government Area, Imo State and beyond, as they joined the bereaved husband, Hon. Emmanuel Chidiebere Mbachu, popularly known as General BB, a former Government Liaison Officer (GLO) for Uwaorie Ward, to celebrate the life of his late wife and offer prayers for the family.
Leading the political delegation was the Member representing Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta and Oru West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Engr. Eugene Okechukwu Dibiagwu, who described the loss as painful and prayed God to comfort the bereaved family.
Speaking during the burial, Dibiagwu extended condolences to Hon. Mbachu, the Mbachu family and the Abiaziem family, urging them to remain steadfast despite the painful loss.
"On behalf of myself, my family and the good people of Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta and Oru West Federal Constituency whom I represent at the National Assembly, I sincerely condole with Hon. Emmanuel Chidiebere Mbachu, the Mbachu family, the Abiaziem family and the Agwa clan over this painful loss.
"Death is an inevitable reality for every living person. While we may not understand God's purpose, He remains our ultimate source of comfort. I pray that Almighty God grants everyone affected by this painful loss the strength to bear it and may the soul of the departed rest in perfect peace."
Other political leaders who attended the funeral also encouraged the widower to trust in God, assuring him that divine strength would sustain him as he shoulders the responsibility of raising the three children left behind by his late wife.
Addressing mourners, Hon. Emmanuel Chidiebere Mbachu expressed profound appreciation to everyone who stood with him throughout the period of mourning and burial preparations.
He specifically thanked Rt. Hon. Eugene Okechukwu Dibiagwu, Hon. Gilbert Nwosu, Hon. Ifeanyi Nnani, political associates, friends, relatives and members of the community for their solidarity and support.
Describing his wife's death as the greatest tragedy of his life, Mbachu said the family had suffered an irreplaceable loss.
"This is too much a loss," he said while struggling to contain his emotions.
Recalling the circumstances that led to his wife's death, he narrated that she had called him to inform him she was ill.
"On that faithful day, I received a distress call from my wife informing me that she was sick. I thought it was a minor health challenge and hurried home immediately. Sadly, by the time I got home, her condition had deteriorated, and despite every effort by medical personnel to save her life, she could not survive."
His emotional testimony drew sympathy from mourners, many of whom were visibly moved as he reflected on the enormous responsibility of raising their children without their mother.
The emotional atmosphere reached its peak when the couple's three children—one daughter and two sons—were brought before the congregation for prayers. The children, believed to be between six and thirteen years old, received prayers from ministers and mourners, who also appealed to family members and the wider community to continue supporting them.
Family members and friends described the late Chinwendu as a caring wife, devoted mother and compassionate woman whose humility, kindness and generosity endeared her to many people.
Many mourners noted that the impressive turnout at the burial reflected the positive impact she made during her lifetime.
Political observers also described the presence of senior political figures as a demonstration of solidarity with Hon. Emmanuel Chidiebere Mbachu, whose grassroots political involvement has earned him wide acceptance across Agwa and Oguta.
Some analysts remarked that Rt. Hon. Eugene Okechukwu Dibiagwu's personal attendance reinforced his reputation for identifying with constituents during moments of joy and sorrow, noting that such gestures continue to strengthen public confidence in responsive leadership.

Collins Ughala, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communication; Hon. Cassidy Ohamara, ISOPADEC Commissioner; Hon. Obed O. Obed, APC Chairman, Oguta Local Government Area.
Others includes, Hon. Bede Obiagwu, APC Secretary, Oguta Local Government Area; Hon. Dr. Nina Nwulu, ISOPADEC Commissioner; Hon. Mrs. Ada Okorie, former APC State Woman Leader; Hon. Sunday Miller, former Development Centre Coordinator, Alaoma; Hon. Jumbo Obinna Modestus, former Development Centre Coordinator, Agwa; councillors, party faithful, traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders.
The funeral service ended with prayers for the peaceful repose of Mrs. Chinwendu Mbachu and renewed appeals for continued support for the bereaved family, particularly the three children she left behind.
Beyond mourning the loss of a wife and mother, the gathering reflected the enduring values of communal solidarity and compassion that remain deeply rooted in Agwa, as leaders and ordinary citizens alike united to stand with one of their own in a moment of profound grief.
