Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi recently paid a courtesy visit to veteran broadcast journalist and political commentator, Babajide Kolade-Otitoju, at the Television Continental (TVC) headquarters in Lagos.
Sharing details of the visit, Kolade-Otitoju disclosed that the Leicester City midfielder made it a point to stop by his office during his visit to the media organisation. The veteran journalist described the gesture as thoughtful and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to host the Nigerian football star.
According to Kolade-Otitoju, he was honoured to present a copy of his book to Ndidi during their interaction. He also noted the footballer's impressive physical condition, describing him as remarkably trim while maintaining the strength and athleticism that have distinguished him as one of Nigeria's most dependable midfielders.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for both men to discuss issues affecting Nigerian football, particularly the Super Eagles' absence from the ongoing FIFA World Cup. Kolade-Otitoju acknowledged that the team's failure to qualify remains a source of disappointment for many Nigerians, including himself and the national team captain.
Despite the setback, both expressed optimism about the future of Nigerian football and the prospects of the Super Eagles returning stronger in upcoming international competitions.
Ndidi remains one of Nigeria's most influential football ambassadors, while Kolade-Otitoju continues to be a respected voice in the nation's media and public affairs landscape.
The visit highlighted the enduring relationship between sports and the media in promoting national discourse, inspiring young Nigerians, and sustaining public interest in the development of the country's football ecosystem.
"Long live the Super Eagles," Kolade-Otitoju remarked as he reflected on the engagement.
