President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Bola Tinubu, for what he described as significant progress in ongoing infrastructure development in Abuja, following the commissioning of the Collector Road CN2 and other road projects in the Katampe District.
The President, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, made the remarks on Friday during the official inauguration of the 3.9-kilometre dual carriageway known as CN2 (Emmanuel Ogala Boulevard) and adjoining roads in the district.
He commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as effective delivery of infrastructure projects aimed at modernising the nation’s capital, stating that the administration’s expectations had been met.
According to the President, the projects reflect a broader effort to reposition Abuja as a modern capital city, noting improvements in road connectivity, drainage systems, water supply infrastructure, and public lighting.
He added that the installation of solar-powered streetlights along the corridor had improved visibility and contributed to enhanced security and night-time economic activity in parts of the city.
The CN2 road project, executed by China Geo-Engineering Construction (CGC) Nigeria Limited, connects Katampe and Mabushi with major arterial roads leading to the Outer Northern Expressway. It also features drainage systems, water pipelines, sewer infrastructure, telecommunications ducts, walkways, and landscaped verges.
FCT authorities stated that the project is expected to ease traffic flow between Katampe, Jahi, Mabushi, and Maitama, while supporting ongoing urban expansion in the area.
Wike described the project as part of efforts to close infrastructural gaps identified in earlier developments and ensure coordinated urban planning across the district. He also noted that the road has already begun attracting private residential and commercial investments.
Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, and Chairman of the House Committee on the FCT, Muktar Aliyu Betara, were among other officials present at the event.
Officials further disclosed that additional infrastructure projects, including water supply schemes for satellite communities, are scheduled for commissioning in the coming days as part of ongoing FCT development initiatives.
