‎The Uzii Youth Progressive Forum (UYPF), Obudi, Agwa in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, has announced the appointment of its interim Caretaker Executive Committee, a move aimed at providing leadership, promoting unity, and laying a solid foundation for the formal establishment of the youth body.

‎The announcement followed a series of consultations, deliberations, and executive meetings involving members of the forum, culminating in a democratic selection process through which the interim officers emerged.

‎According to a press statement made available to Inside Agwa News by the Forum's Interim Secretary, Mr. Chima Godwin Emela, the newly constituted caretaker committee has been entrusted with the responsibility of coordinating the affairs of the association pending the drafting, approval, and adoption of its constitution.

‎The statement disclosed that the following officers emerged after a transparent nomination and voting process:

‎President: Mr. Uche Ucheobi

‎Secretary: Mr. Chima Godwin Emela

‎Treasurer: Mr. Vitalis Onyewuchi

‎Public Relations Officer (PRO): Mr. Bright Aruwuonye and Financial Secretary: Mr. Chibueze Gregory.

‎Speaking on behalf of the interim leadership, Mr. Emela explained that the executive meeting was successfully concluded after members unanimously endorsed the need for an organized leadership structure that would coordinate the activities of the forum and drive its objectives.

‎He noted that, as part of the resolutions reached during the meeting, membership of the association would, for the time being, be limited to young men while the forum's constitution is being developed. He emphasized that future membership and participation would be guided strictly by the provisions of the constitution once it is formally adopted.

‎To ensure order and discipline during the transitional period, the forum also adopted a set of temporary rules to govern its operations.

‎Among the guidelines are provisions requiring members to promote peace, unity, mutual respect, and cooperation. Members are also expected to comply with decisions reached by the caretaker executives, refrain from insults, abusive language, threats, or actions capable of causing division, and avoid spreading false information or making unauthorized posts on the forum's communication platforms.

‎The temporary regulations further provide that major decisions affecting the forum shall be reached through consultations between members and the caretaker executives, while disputes and grievances should be channelled through the leadership for peaceful resolution. Executive members are equally expected to attend meetings regularly and actively contribute to the growth and development of the association.

‎The statement added that the interim guidelines would remain in force until the official constitution is drafted, debated, approved, and adopted by members.

‎Observers within the community have described the emergence of the Uzii Youth Progressive Forum as a significant step toward strengthening youth participation in community development and fostering a stronger sense of unity among young people in the Uzii bloc of Obudi.

‎Several stakeholders who reacted to the development commended the promoters of the initiative for demonstrating foresight and commitment to organized youth engagement. They described the formation of the forum as timely, particularly at a period when many communities are seeking greater involvement of young people in leadership, peacebuilding, and grassroots development.

‎Some respondents noted that the establishment of a structured youth platform would provide opportunities for constructive dialogue, leadership development, community service, and coordinated efforts toward addressing issues affecting young people in the area.

‎They urged members of the caretaker committee to remain transparent, inclusive, and accountable in carrying out their responsibilities while ensuring that the process of drafting the forum's constitution reflects the collective aspirations of members.

‎Community leaders and concerned residents also encouraged the forum to uphold democratic values, maintain unity among members, and work closely with traditional institutions, community associations, and relevant stakeholders in pursuing developmental initiatives for Uzii, Obudi, and the wider Agwa community.

‎According to the reactions, sustained commitment to peace, cooperation, and responsible leadership would enable the forum to become a positive force for youth empowerment and community advancement.

‎The Uzii Youth Progressive Forum was established with the objective of promoting peace, unity, social development, and the collective welfare of young people within the Uzii bloc. Beyond serving as a platform for youth engagement, the association is expected to encourage community participation, leadership development, and initiatives that contribute to the socio-economic progress of Obudi and Agwa.

‎Residents expressed optimism that the interim leadership would successfully steer the affairs of the forum during the transition period and lay a strong institutional foundation for a vibrant, inclusive, and constitutionally guided youth organization capable of advancing the interests of present and future generations.
