‎OWERRI, IMO STATE — The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Orlu State Constituency in the 2027 Imo State House of Assembly election, Hon. Isaac Ugochukwu Mbika, has assured residents of the constituency that they will enjoy purposeful, accountable, and people-oriented representation if elected.

‎Mbika made the declaration on Monday, July 27, 2026, shortly after returning from a business trip, which he said was aimed at engaging prospective investors capable of supporting economic development and youth empowerment initiatives in Orlu State Constituency.

‎Speaking with Inside Agwa News in Owerri, the former Nigerian youth international footballer urged the people of Orlu to embrace positive change by electing leaders who possess the vision, competence, and commitment to deliver democratic dividends.

‎According to him, years of inadequate representation have slowed the pace of development in the constituency, making it necessary for voters to support a new generation of leadership focused on service and measurable results.

‎"I have just returned from a business trip. The purpose was to engage investors whose partnerships can benefit our people. I am a goal-getter, and whenever I commit myself to a cause, I pursue it until meaningful results are achieved.

‎"Our immediate focus is the 2027 election. I am proud to be the flag bearer of the African Democratic Congress for Orlu State Constituency, and I believe we have what it takes to win because our campaign is built on integrity, competence, and service."

‎The ADC candidate expressed appreciation for the growing support his campaign has continued to receive from residents at home and in the diaspora, describing the encouragement as a motivation to work harder.

‎"Since we declared our intention to contest, the support from our people has been overwhelming. I sincerely appreciate everyone who believes in this project.

‎"If elected in 2027, Orlu State Constituency will be in safe hands. I believe I have the experience, exposure, and capacity to provide quality representation. As Toyota says, 'Good Thinking, Good Products.' I am presenting myself as a credible product for the people."

‎Mbika, who was popularly known during his football career as "Powerful Mbika," noted that his years as an international footballer exposed him to leadership, discipline, teamwork, and development models that he intends to replicate through effective legislative representation.

‎He further stated that his campaign structure will be fully activated across the 13 wards of Orlu Local Government Area, with supporters intensifying  grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 polls.

‎According to him, the strength of the ADC across the state, coupled with the support of respected community leaders and party stakeholders, gives him confidence of victory.

‎Speaking on electoral integrity, Mbika expressed confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), while emphasizing that vigilance by voters and political parties would remain essential.

‎"INEC has assured Nigerians of its commitment to conducting free, fair, and credible elections. I have no reason to doubt the Commission's capacity.

‎"However, elections require preparation and organization. We shall ensure that every lawful vote counts. Nobody will be allowed to undermine the will of the people.

‎"I encourage every eligible voter to obtain their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) and actively participate in the electoral process."

‎The race for the Orlu State Constituency seat is expected to be one of the closely watched contests in the 2027 Imo State general elections.

‎The constituency is currently represented in the Imo State House of Assembly by Hon. Dr. Barr. Ikenna Martins Ihezuo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who was elected during the 2023 general election.

‎With political parties gradually mobilizing ahead of 2027, observers believe the election could witness increased competition as opposition parties intensify efforts to challenge the ruling APC in several constituencies across the state.

‎Mbika's emergence as the ADC candidate has attracted attention due to his profile as a former football captain, entrepreneur, and grassroots mobilizer.

‎Some supporters who welcomed Mbika back to Imo described him as a disciplined and accessible leader with the potential to redefine legislative representation in Orlu State Constituency.

‎A youth supporter, Chukwudi Okafor, said the constituency needs "a representative who understands the aspirations of young people and can connect them with opportunities."

‎Similarly, Mrs. Ngozi Nnadi, a trader in Orlu, expressed optimism that the election would provide voters with an opportunity to assess candidates based on competence and their plans for development.

‎Political analysts, however, maintain that while Mbika's popularity and sporting background may boost his campaign, success at the polls will depend on sustained grassroots engagement, issue-based campaigns, effective party organization, and voter turnout on election day.

‎As political activities gather momentum ahead of 2027, residents of Orlu State Constituency are expected to closely evaluate the programmes and promises of all candidates seeking to represent them in the Imo State House of Assembly.
