As preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum, supporters of Senator Patrick Ndubueze, FNSE, have cited his reported constituency projects and interventions as reasons for seeking his return to the National Assembly to represent Imo North Senatorial Zone.
The supporters said the senator’s performance should be assessed based on documented projects and interventions across the six local government areas that make up the senatorial zone, rather than political controversies.
They highlighted the establishment of the Federal University, Okigwe, as one of the major projects associated with the senator’s representation, describing the institution as an intervention expected to contribute to education, research, employment and economic activities in the area.
The supporters also pointed to the ongoing Okigwe Electricity Project, which they said was aimed at improving electricity supply in the area.
According to them, efforts to revive the Ezinnachi Silo also formed part of the senator’s interventions, particularly in relation to agriculture and food security.
They further listed the facilitation of road infrastructure, attraction of telecommunication base stations to Okigwe and Ehime Mbano, provision of solar-powered boreholes and various empowerment programmes among initiatives attributed to Ndubueze’s representation.
Other interventions cited included scholarships, healthcare support and youth and women development programmes, as well as constituency projects implemented in different communities within the senatorial district.
The supporters maintained that the listed interventions should form part of the public discussion ahead of the 2027 election, arguing that constituency representation should be evaluated on the basis of projects and services delivered to constituents.
They said the senator’s mandate, which they described as having been freely entrusted to him by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had been supported by what they described as accessibility, dedication and continued engagement with constituents.
The group also called for attention to be focused on the senator’s legislative and constituency record instead of what it described as political distractions.
They argued that continuity in representation would enable ongoing projects, including the Okigwe Electricity Project, to progress while allowing existing development initiatives to receive further attention.
The supporters consequently expressed their backing for Ndubueze’s return to the Senate in 2027, describing him as the “Legacy Senator” and urging voters in Imo North to consider his reported record of constituency interventions when making their electoral decision.
Imo North Senatorial Zone comprises Okigwe, Ehime Mbano, Onuimo, Isu, Ihitte-Uboma and Obowo Local Government Areas.
The 2027 election is expected to bring increased political activity across the senatorial district as aspirants and political groups begin to present their records, programmes and priorities to voters.
The supporters said the projects and interventions attributed to Ndubueze represented a basis for continued engagement with the electorate as the political process leading to the 2027 election progresses.
