OBUDI-AGWA, OGUTA LGA, IMO STATE, NIGERIA — The Ahii, Orinji and Ezeoka Social Union (AOESU), Obudi-Agwa, has expressed condolences to the Alamezie family of Umuahii, Obudi-Agwa Ancient Kingdom, following the death of their patriarch, Pa. Fabian Alamezie.
Pa. Alamezie, who died at the age of 90, is scheduled to be buried on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
The association conveyed its condolences through its leadership on the organisation’s WhatsApp information platform, describing the deceased as a peaceful and honest man who lived to an advanced age.
Members of the AOESU leadership, including Mr. Pascal Uzomezie (Major), Mr. Chinenye Arugbuonye (Young Chief), Mr. Chimezie Chibueze Abiaziem and others, expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
The association also extended its condolences through Mr. Alamezie Emeka, one of the deceased’s sons and a member of AOESU.
In a message to members, Uzomezie urged members of the association to attend the burial in solidarity with Emeka and the entire Alamezie family.
He appealed to members to take the occasion as an opportunity to demonstrate brotherhood and support the bereaved family during their period of mourning.
“I would like to use this opportunity to appeal to every member of AOESU to endeavour to condole with our brother, Emeka and his family who lost their father and will be buried on Thursday, 8 October, 2026.”
Uzomezie said the burial presented an opportunity for members to demonstrate the strength of the association and its commitment to supporting one another in difficult times.
He also called on members to participate in the condolence activities, including donations, noting that their physical presence and support would be meaningful to the bereaved family.
“A call of brotherhood and sisterhood can take place at any occasion and this is one of them,” he said, urging members to rally around the family.
The appeal was reinforced by another member of the AOESU leadership, Mr. Chinenye Arugbuonye, who urged members to contribute according to their financial capacity.
Arugbuonye appealed to members to make what he described as their “widow’s mite” towards the condolence donation, saying the gesture would help the family offset some of the expenses associated with the burial.
“I’m appealing to everyone to ensure they participate in the condolence donation. You can donate more or less based on your financial strength,” Arugbuonye said.
He further urged members to ensure their physical presence at the burial on Thursday to pay their final respects to the deceased.
The late Pa. Fabian Alamezie was a farmer and a devoted Catholic during his lifetime. He was also described as the second-oldest person in Umuahii Village, Obudi-Agwa, before his death.
The Ahii, Orinji and Ezeoka Social Union, popularly known as U-3, is one of the prominent village blocs in Obudi-Agwa, with members bound by ties of cooperation, development, friendship and community solidarity.
The association’s decision to mobilise members for the burial underscores the importance it places on brotherhood, friendship and communal support, particularly during moments of bereavement.
The group said the life of Pa. Alamezie also serves as a reminder of the importance of leaving behind a positive legacy, raising responsible children and contributing meaningfully to the family and community while alive.
Members of AOESU are expected to join the Alamezie family on Thursday, October 8, 2026, as the community bids farewell to the late Pa. Fabian Alamezie.
