‎The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), , has commenced consultations on the selection of a running mate for the 2027 presidential election.

‎Inside Agwa News reports that Atiku secured the party's presidential ticket during the ADC primary election held on Wednesday. The outcome of the contest was, however, disputed by fellow aspirants, and in his acceptance speech, Atiku appealed to his fellow contestants and party members to unite behind his candidacy as the party prepares for the 2027 general election.

‎According to reports, consultations are ongoing within the party regarding the composition of its presidential ticket. Sources within the ADC reportedly favour a vice-presidential candidate from the South-East geopolitical zone, citing the region's strategic importance to the party's electoral calculations.

‎Party insiders have also linked former Imo State Governor and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, to ongoing discussions surrounding the vice-presidential position.

‎Sources familiar with the process said Ihedioha remained in the ADC and played an active role in mobilising support for Atiku during the party's presidential primary.

‎Meanwhile, Atiku's Special Adviser, confirmed that consultations were continuing and assured that the party would comply with the timetable released by the party for the submission of its presidential ticket.

‎Ibe stated that the ADC remained committed to meeting all electoral deadlines ahead of the 2027 elections.
‎When asked about reports linking Ihedioha and Amaechi to the vice-presidential slot, Ibe declined to comment on specific individuals under consideration, maintaining that consultations were still ongoing.

‎The ADC is expected to conclude its internal consultations and announce its final presidential ticket in line with INEC's schedule for the 2027 general election.
