Tamunosoye Karibi-George, who represented Bayelsa State, has been crowned Miss World Nigeria 2026 after emerging victorious at the grand finale of the national beauty pageant held in Lagos.
The 26-year-old beauty queen outshone 19 other contestants to claim the coveted title during the event, which took place on Saturday at the Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel.
Although she competed under the Bayelsa State banner, Karibi-George is an indigene of Rivers State, bringing pride to both states with her remarkable achievement.
Her victory earns her the opportunity to represent Nigeria at the 73rd Miss World Festival scheduled to hold in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from August 9 to September 5, 2026.
The 2026 edition of the pageant was held under the theme "Pride, Power, and Purpose," attracting contestants from across the country who competed for the prestigious national crown.
Founder of the Silverbird Group and former senator, Ben Murray-Bruce, announced the winner in a social media post on Sunday, describing Karibi-George as a queen whose purpose and passion set her apart.
According to Murray-Bruce, the newly crowned queen is also a dedicated advocate for children living with special needs through her humanitarian initiative, Beyond Labels, which promotes inclusion, dignity, empowerment, and equal opportunities for every child.
He noted that her intelligence, compassion, confidence, and commitment to social impact earned her the honour of representing Nigeria on the global stage.
Murray-Bruce also called on Nigerians to support Karibi-George as she prepares for the international competition in Vietnam, expressing confidence that she will make the country proud.
Miss World Nigeria, organised annually by the Silverbird Group, serves as Nigeria's official selection platform for the global Miss World competition and places strong emphasis on humanitarian service through the renowned "Beauty with a Purpose" initiative.
Karibi-George succeeds Joy Mojisola Raimi, who represented Nigeria at the 72nd Miss World competition in Hyderabad, India, where she finished among the Top 20 contestants worldwide and ranked among the Top Five representatives from Africa.
