The Executive Chairman of Eleme Local Government Area, Chief Hon. Obarilomate Ollor, DSSRS (JP), is scheduled to appear on three national television stations today to address matters relating to reported land disputes and ongoing security concerns affecting communities in Eleme.
During the interviews, the Chairman is expected to provide the public with the local government's position on allegations of land grabbing and speak on incidents involving persistent attacks on Eleme residents by suspected criminal elements. He is also expected to outline the steps being taken by the council, in collaboration with relevant security agencies and other stakeholders, to promote peace, safeguard lives and property, and strengthen the rule of law.
The media engagements are intended to enhance public understanding of the issues, provide factual clarification, and reinforce transparency in governance. By addressing citizens through national broadcast platforms, the council aims to encourage informed public discourse, discourage misinformation, and demonstrate its commitment to accountability and democratic engagement.
Public enlightenment remains a vital pillar of democracy. Open communication between elected leaders and the people promotes trust, encourages civic participation, and enables citizens to make informed judgments on matters affecting their communities. Such engagements also provide an opportunity for government officials to explain policies, respond to public concerns, and reaffirm their commitment to justice, peace, and sustainable development.
The interview schedule is as follows:
AIT – 12:00 PM
Arise TV – 1:00 PM
Channels TV – 8:00 PM
Residents of Eleme, stakeholders, and members of the general public are encouraged to follow the broadcasts to gain firsthand information on the issues and the measures being pursued to address them.
