‎The contest for the 2027 Imo State House of Assembly election recorded a significant development on Saturday as Chief Igwejiuba-Francis Ugorji officially obtained the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to contest for the Owerri West State Constituency seat.

‎Political observers and stakeholders within the party described the development as a major milestone for the ADC in Imo State as the party intensifies efforts to strengthen its position ahead of the 2027 general elections.

‎Chief Igwejiuba-Francis Ugorji, a Harvard-trained scholar, philanthropist, educationist, and grassroots political figure, has continued to enjoy growing support across Owerri West due to his record of community service, youth empowerment initiatives, social interventions, and commitment to people-oriented leadership.

‎The presentation ceremony was attended by top officials of the party, including the Imo State Chairman of ADC, Prof. James Okoroma; the State Organizing Secretary, Hon. Lawrence Nwadike; the State Woman Leader, Hon. (Mrs.) Uju Ihejiagwa; members of the State Working Committee (SWC); party supporters; and stakeholders from different parts of the constituency.

‎Party leaders who spoke during the event described Igwejiuba as a committed and dependable party loyalist whose competence, leadership credentials, and consistent support for the party have continued to distinguish him within the political space.

‎The nomination form was formally presented to the aspirant by the State Organizing Secretary, Hon. Lawrence Nwadike, in the presence of enthusiastic supporters and party faithful who gathered to witness the occasion and reaffirm their support for his aspiration.

‎Also present at the event were the ADC Ward 10 Chairman, Hon. John-Cajethan Onyekachi Ogbuewu; Ward 10 Secretary, Mr. Chibuike Umanze; Ward 10 Youth Leader, Hon. Stanley Muruako; the Ward 9 Coordinator of the Igwejiuba Francis Foundation, Hon. Chidera Iheme; alongside several community leaders, stakeholders, and supporters of the party.

‎The event witnessed a strong display of solidarity and confidence in the candidacy of Chief Igwejiuba, whom many supporters described as a grassroots leader with a longstanding reputation for humanitarian service, accessibility, and dedication to the welfare of both the young and elderly across the constituency.

‎Supporters further noted that his leadership style, anchored on compassion, inclusiveness, and practical support for ordinary people, has continued to earn him widespread acceptance and growing political support throughout Owerri West.

‎Stakeholders within the ADC also pointed to his loyalty to party ideals, ability to work across political and social divides, and demonstrated commitment to community development as factors positioning him as a formidable contender in the forthcoming election.

‎With the successful acquisition of the nomination forms, Chief Igwejiuba-Francis Ugorji has formally declared his intention to contest the Owerri West State Constituency seat on the platform of the African Democratic Congress, setting the stage for what political observers believe could become a highly significant contest ahead of the 2027 general elections.
