Ikechukwu David Thanks Oguta Voters for Backing NDC, Urges Full Participation in 2027 Elections

OGUTA, IMO STATE — The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Oguta State Constituency in the 2027 Imo State House of Assembly election, Mr. Ikechukwu David, has commended the people of Oguta for what he described as their growing support for the party and his candidacy.
David, who spoke during an interaction with Inside Agwa News correspondent on Friday, also commended the leadership and members of the NDC in Oguta Local Government Area for their commitment and sacrifices towards strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The candidate described the NDC in Oguta as an “organic movement” driven by the desire for better governance, accountable leadership and quality representation.
According to him, the emerging political realignment in Oguta reflects the desire of citizens to participate more actively in determining how the resources and collective interests of the constituency are managed.
“This is the time for us to get it right. I am encouraged by the growing acceptance of the NDC and my candidacy by the good people of Oguta. I believe this represents a collective desire for responsible leadership, equitable development and shared ownership of our commonwealth, rather than a situation where the destiny and future of thousands of Oguta people are determined by a small section of society,” David said.
He particularly appreciated party leaders in Oguta for their commitment to building the NDC and mobilising support at the grassroots.
“I want to sincerely thank our leaders across Oguta for their sacrifices and dedication to moving the NDC forward. We understand that achieving meaningful political and developmental change requires unity, cooperation and a shared commitment to the common good,” he stated.
David also acknowledged the contributions of ward chairmen, polling-unit canvassers, women leaders, youth leaders and other party supporters across the constituency.
“To our ward chairmen, polling-unit canvassers, women leaders, youth leaders and, most importantly, the voters of Oguta who have identified with the NDC and its candidates, I deeply appreciate your sacrifices and commitment,” he said.
He added that the support for the party was rooted in the expectation of improved social welfare, accountable governance and better representation.
“Your commitment to building a better society, strengthening social welfare and promoting good governance will not be in vain. Oguta is blessed with enormous natural and human resources, including oil, gas, agriculture and a talented population. Yet, our people continue to demand stronger representation and greater development. If given the mandate, I will work to make effective representation and responsive governance a priority,” David said.
The NDC candidate urged voters to remain actively engaged in the democratic process and participate fully in the 2027 elections.
“I encourage the people of Oguta to continue to support the NDC candidates, safeguard their Permanent Voter Cards and ensure that they participate fully in the electoral process. Democracy is strengthened when citizens exercise their constitutional right to vote and hold elected representatives accountable,” he said.
David further disclosed that preparations were underway for the commencement of the party’s campaign activities for the state constituency election.
“As the campaign for the State Constituency election begins this month, we will unveil our campaign structures and teams across the constituency and formally commence our engagements with the people. Our objective is to present our programmes, listen to the concerns of the electorate and seek their mandate through a peaceful and issue-based campaign,” he said.
He called on supporters to remain peaceful and law-abiding throughout the electoral season, stressing that political competition should be centred on ideas, policies, competence and the welfare of the people.
“Thank you for believing in me, for supporting the NDC and for supporting all our candidates. Let us continue to work together peacefully and democratically for a better Oguta. God bless Ndi Oguta,” David concluded.
The 2027 elections are expected to generate heightened political activity across Imo State as political parties and candidates intensify grassroots mobilisation, campaign organisation and engagement with voters ahead of the polls.
