KEBBI STATE, NIGERIA — Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has approved the construction of road projects linking 13 communities in Kalgo and Bunza Local Government Areas of the state.

Governor Idris disclosed the approval on Friday during a condolence visit to residents of Diggi following the death of the District Head of Diggi, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, popularly known as Dan Galadima Diggi.

The governor said the road projects were designed to improve transportation and connectivity among the affected communities, while facilitating the movement of people, agricultural produce and other goods.

According to him, improved road access would also contribute to economic activities and enhance the livelihoods of residents in the benefiting communities.

The communities listed to benefit from the projects include Maidahini, Yarawel, Gerere, Etene, Ketar Fulani, Ketar Hausawa, Gangare, Banganna, Mutubari, Wurogauri, Diggi, Gayi and Unguwar Jeji.

Idris said the contract for the projects had been awarded to Habib Engineering Construction Company, adding that the official flag-off ceremony would be conducted soon.

He assured residents of the affected communities that his administration would continue to prioritise infrastructure projects that have a direct impact on the people.
The governor said particular attention would be given to communities facing significant infrastructure challenges, stressing the importance of road development to rural connectivity and economic growth.

The projects are expected to provide improved access between the communities and facilitate easier movement of residents and goods within the two local government areas.

Idris was in Diggi to commiserate with the people over the death of the district head and used the occasion to communicate the administration's plans for the road infrastructure.

While expressing his condolences to the family, traditional institution and people of Diggi, the governor prayed for the repose of the deceased's soul.

He also asked Almighty Allah to forgive the late district head's shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.

The governor's announcement comes as part of the state government's efforts to address infrastructure needs and improve road connectivity across communities in Kebbi State.
