The National Examinations Council (NECO) has alerted the public to the existence of fraudulent online portals falsely advertising the recruitment of examination supervisors, stressing that such platforms are not affiliated with the Council.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Minna, the Director of Information and Public Relations, Mallam Azeez Sani, clarified that NECO is not conducting any analogue recruitment exercise for examination supervisors and urged members of the public to disregard the fake recruitment websites.
According to the statement, the fraudulent portals require applicants to upload their academic credentials and make financial payments before processing their applications.
"NECO wishes to alert members of the public to the existence of fake online portals for the recruitment of examination supervisors. The fake portals request interested applicants to submit details of their academic qualifications after making certain payments," the statement said.
The Council emphasized that it does not charge any fee for teachers applying to serve as examination supervisors for the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal.
Mallam Azeez explained that, in line with the recommendations of the Ministerial Committee on the Improvement of Quality of Examination in Nigeria, NECO has replaced the former analogue recruitment process with a fully digital and automated system designed to enhance transparency and efficiency.
He stated that all qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above who are at least 30 years old and interested in serving as supervisors for the 2026 SSCE Internal examination should submit their applications through the Council's official recruitment portal at https://supervisor.neco.gov.ng.
The spokesperson further stressed that the recruitment process is entirely automated and does not require the involvement of any third party or intermediary.
According to NECO, the new electronic recruitment system is aimed at eliminating fraud, strengthening examination supervision, reducing opportunities for malpractice, and promoting fairness and credibility throughout the selection process.
The Council also disclosed that more than 22,000 supervisors will be recruited to ensure the smooth conduct of the 2026 SSCE Internal Examination, which is scheduled to commence on June 15, 2026.
NECO urged prospective applicants and the general public to remain vigilant and rely only on its official platforms for information regarding recruitment and examination-related activities, warning that anyone engaging with unofficial portals does so at their own risk.
