NYSC Fixes August 5 for 2026 Batch 'B' Stream II Orientation Course Nationwide

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that the 2026 Batch 'B' Stream II Orientation Course will commence on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, across all orientation camps in Nigeria's 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to the scheme, the three-week orientation programme will run simultaneously nationwide and conclude on Wednesday, August 25, 2026, ushering in the next phase of the mandatory one-year national service for thousands of graduates from Nigerian and foreign higher institutions.
The announcement provides clarity for prospective Corps Members who have been awaiting the release of mobilisation details following the completion of the Batch 'B' Stream II registration process.
As part of preparations for the exercise, the NYSC disclosed that Call-up Numbers have already been uploaded to the dashboards of prospective Corps Members, while Call-up Letters, which contain state of deployment, reporting dates and other relevant information, will be released in due course.
Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, congratulated all prospective Corps Members mobilised for the 2026 Batch 'B' Stream II Service Year on successfully completing their studies, describing their mobilisation as another important milestone in their academic and national journey.
He encouraged the prospective Corps Members to approach the service year with patriotism, discipline and commitment, noting that the NYSC remains one of Nigeria's foremost national integration programmes.
The Director General also urged all prospective Corps Members to prioritise their safety while travelling to their respective orientation camps. He strongly advised them to avoid travelling at night, stressing that adhering to established travel and safety guidelines would help minimise avoidable risks during the journey.
The safety advisory comes against the backdrop of growing concerns over road accidents and security challenges on some highways across the country. In recent years, the NYSC has consistently appealed to Corps Members to travel during daylight hours, use only approved motor parks and commercial transport operators, and maintain regular communication with family members throughout their journeys.
The orientation course represents the first phase of the National Youth Service programme. During the three-week exercise, Corps Members participate in intensive physical drills, leadership and citizenship training, lectures on national values, entrepreneurship development, skills acquisition programmes, and community development initiatives designed to prepare them for the service year.
Participants will also undergo registration, documentation, medical screening and camp activities before receiving postings to their respective Places of Primary Assignment (PPAs), where they will spend the remaining months of the one-year national service.
Since its establishment in 1973, the NYSC has remained a key institution aimed at promoting national unity, integration and cultural exchange among Nigerian graduates. The scheme deploys Corps Members to states outside their regions of origin to foster mutual understanding and strengthen national cohesion.
The announcement has been welcomed by many prospective Corps Members, particularly those who had been anxiously awaiting confirmation of the orientation timetable. Several graduates expressed relief on social media shortly after the announcement, saying the fixed date would enable them to finalise travel arrangements, prepare required documents and make necessary financial plans before reporting to camp.
Others praised the early release of Call-up Numbers, describing it as a positive step that gives prospective Corps Members enough time to monitor their dashboards and prepare for deployment.
Parents and guardians also welcomed the NYSC's renewed emphasis on safe travel, urging their children and wards to comply strictly with the Director General's advice by avoiding night journeys and remaining security conscious throughout the trip to their assigned orientation camps.
With the commencement date now officially confirmed, attention is expected to shift to the release of Call-up Letters, which will indicate each prospective Corps Member's state of deployment and reporting instructions ahead of the August 5 opening of camps nationwide.
