‎Hon. Chief Barr. Obioma Johnson Ehirim has handed over the administration of Obowo Local Government Area to the Director of Administration and General Services (DAGS), Mrs. Orisakwe, following the completion of his two-year tenure as Executive Chairman.

‎

‎The handover ceremony was held at the Office of the Executive Chairman, Otoko Council Complex, Obowo, marking the formal conclusion of Ehirim’s tenure.

‎In his remarks, Ehirim expressed appreciation to Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for giving him the opportunity to serve as chairman and for the support and confidence extended to his administration throughout the two-year period.

‎

‎He said the backing of the state government provided an enabling environment for his administration to pursue programmes and interventions aimed at improving grassroots governance and the welfare of residents.

‎Ehirim also thanked the people of Obowo for their support, cooperation, prayers and understanding during his tenure.

‎

‎The former chairman acknowledged the contributions of elected officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, political stakeholders, civil servants and other residents across the 10 electoral wards, stressing that the progress recorded during his administration was a collective effort.

‎

‎He particularly appreciated members of the Local Government Executive, Legislative Council, traditional institution, organised communities, youth and women groups, religious bodies and other stakeholders for their contributions to peace and development in the area.

‎According to him, his administration remained focused on grassroots-oriented governance and initiatives addressing issues affecting the daily lives of the people.

‎

‎Ehirim highlighted interventions in areas including rural electrification, water supply, road maintenance, education, healthcare, infrastructure and other community development projects.

‎He also appreciated the various appointees and local government officials who collaborated with his administration in implementing constituency and community-focused projects.

‎

‎The former chairman urged stakeholders in Obowo to sustain the spirit of peace, unity and cooperation, saying continued development of the local government requires collective commitment.

‎He further charged career officers and other personnel of the council to maintain professionalism, dedication and commitment to public service despite changes in political and administrative leadership.

‎

‎Receiving the handover, DAGS Mrs. Orisakwe formally assumed the administrative responsibilities of the council in line with the applicable transition arrangements.

‎

‎The ceremony was witnessed by the Vice Chairman of Obowo LGA, Hon. Barr. Anderson Onyegbule; Leader of the Obowo Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Justice Uwalaka; Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. David Ojunkwu; Obowo Homeland Security Commander, Hon. Godwin Obioma; Special Adviser/Special Assistant, Hon. Chris Ekene; the LGA Treasurer and other senior officials and staff.

‎

‎The occasion also provided an opportunity for Ehirim to formally appreciate those who worked with him during his tenure and to reiterate his gratitude to Ndi Obowo for their confidence and support.

‎

‎Ehirim wished Obowo continued peace, unity and development, while urging residents and stakeholders to remain committed to the collective progress of the local government.

‎He described his two-year tenure as a responsibility he deeply valued and reaffirmed his appreciation to Governor Uzodimma for entrusting him with the leadership of Obowo LGA.

‎

‎“I remain immensely grateful to the Executive Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, for the opportunity to serve. I am equally grateful to Ndi Obowo for their support, cooperation and prayers throughout my tenure,” Ehirim said.

‎

‎He added that he was leaving office with gratitude and the conviction that the progress of Obowo remained a collective responsibility.
