The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally presented a Certificate of Return to its governorship candidate for the forthcoming Delta State governorship election, Chief Peter Mrakpor (SAN), marking a significant step in the party’s preparations for the electoral contest.
The presentation ceremony, attended by party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters from across Delta State, officially confirmed Mrakpor as the PDP flag bearer. The event also underscored the party’s confidence in his candidacy and its commitment to retaining political support across the state.
Speaking after receiving the certificate, Mrakpor expressed gratitude to party delegates and supporters for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the PDP into the election. He pledged to provide purposeful and inclusive leadership aimed at fostering economic growth, sustainable development, and improved social welfare for residents of Delta State.
The PDP candidate further assured citizens of his commitment to strengthening governance institutions and implementing policies designed to accelerate development and improve the quality of life across the state.
In a statement issued by the Director-General of the Peter Mrakpor Campaign Organisation (PMCO), Akpovoke Otiti, the presentation of the Certificate of Return was described as more than a ceremonial exercise, emphasizing that it represents the collective aspirations of Deltans for effective, accountable, and inclusive governance.
According to the statement, Mrakpor’s record in public service reflects his capacity to build strong institutions, uphold the rule of law, and prioritize the welfare of the people. The campaign organization noted that these qualities position him to provide the leadership required to advance Delta State’s development agenda.
The PMCO also called on party members, supporters, and stakeholders to remain united and committed to the task ahead, stressing that collective effort and cooperation would be essential in securing victory at the polls.
“The journey ahead requires dedication, unity, and a shared vision for a stronger and more prosperous Delta State. Together, we can build a future that delivers greater opportunities and sustainable development for all,” the statement said.
Supporters who attended the event expressed optimism about Mrakpor’s candidacy, describing the presentation as the beginning of a renewed political movement aimed at consolidating development and strengthening democratic governance in the state.
The presentation of the Certificate of Return comes as political activities continue to gather momentum across Delta State ahead of the next electoral cycle, with parties intensifying consultations and mobilization efforts in preparation for the governorship election.
