CUPP CALLS ON DSS, POLICE TO INVESTIGATE SENATOR FADAHUNSI OVER ALLEGED THREAT AND INTIMIDATION  AGAINST ACCORD PARTY MEMBERS IN OSUN STATE

The Coalition for United Political Parties (CUPP) has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force to , as a matter of urgency  investigate and prosecute  alleged threat to life  and inciting remarks attributed to Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, ahead of the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election.

According to reports in  a video circulating both  in the social media and otherwise, Senator Fadahunsi, while addressing supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ilesa, allegedly called on his supporters and other Members of the ruling  APC there present , to kill  Accord Party members seen in the town .

The CUPP considers the reported statement extremely grave, reckless and dangerous, particularly coming from a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at a time when Osun State requires peace, tolerance and responsible political leadership.

The Coalition  OF United Political parties (CUPP)therefore call on the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Oluwatosin Ajayi, and the  Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, to urgently investigate the reported statement, establish the authenticity and full context of the video, identify all persons involved and take appropriate lawful action where criminal culpability is established.

At about 70 years of age and after decades in public service ,Senator Fadahunsi ought to be  preaching peace, restraint , reconciliation and democratic tolerance rather than allegedly using inflammatory words considered and capable of  causing  violence. Nigeria needs  political healing, unity and responsible leadership, not toxic political statements that could place innocent citizens at risk.

The CUPP strongly condemns every attempt to intimidate, threaten or attack political opponents. Democracy is not a license for violence, and political disagreements must be settled through the ballot box and the rule of law.

If this very reckless statement had emanated from any  member of the opposition political party, by now , justice Peter Lifu must have sent him within the confines of  Kuje Prison.

The Coalition also calls on the international community, election observers, civil society organisations and democratic institutions to take note of developments that could undermine the peaceful conduct and credibility of the Osun governorship election.

CUPP appeals to the people of Osun State, political parties, supporters, traditional, religious leaders, and especially young people to reject violence and embrace  peace.

We urge the people of Osun State to come out en masse on Saturday, August 15, 2026, peacefully exercise their constitutional right to vote and support candidates of their choice without fear or intimidation.

The CUPP believes in one united, peaceful, democratic and prosperous Osun State, where political power is secured through the free will of the people and not through threats or coercion.

The ballot must defeat violence. Democracy must defeat intimidation. Peace must defeat political desperation.

Finally ,let us not forget that there is life after politics ,and no election or political office is worth the blood or life of any Nigeria.

Signed:
Comrade  Agu Diamond Bryan.
