Former England and Manchester United star Wayne Rooney has predicted that England and Spain will face off in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the Three Lions emerging as champions.
Rooney also identified France as one of the strongest contenders for the title, saying the European giants possess the quality and depth needed to make a significant impact at the tournament.
Speaking on England's chances, the former striker expressed confidence in Thomas Tuchel's squad, describing them as one of the favourites to lift the trophy despite the stiff competition.
"I think they are probably favourites for this World Cup. I think England and Spain will make the final, and hopefully England will win it," Rooney said.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup, currently being staged across the United States, Canada and Mexico, is scheduled to conclude on July 19.
This year's competition is the biggest and longest in World Cup history, featuring an expanded format of 48 teams and a total of 104 matches, marking a new era for the global football showpiece.
