The Imo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed Chief Igwejiuba-Francis Ugorji as the Coordinator of all State House of Assembly aspirants of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appointment was announced by the State Chairman of the party, Prof. James Okoroma, who described the move as part of efforts to strengthen internal coordination, improve communication, and foster unity among the party’s Assembly aspirants across the state.
Chief Igwejiuba-Francis Ugorji, a leading contender for the Owerri-West State Constituency seat in 2027, emerged after what the party leadership described as extensive consultations, leadership appraisal, and recognition of his contributions to the growth of the ADC in Imo State.
Speaking on the appointment, Prof. Okoroma said the party was confident in Ugorji’s leadership capacity, loyalty, and ability to work harmoniously with fellow aspirants in advancing the objectives of the ADC ahead of the next election cycle.
According to him, the creation of the coordinating structure is aimed at building stronger cooperation among the aspirants while ensuring inclusiveness and internal democracy within the party.
He urged the newly appointed coordinator to unite all State House of Assembly aspirants and mobilise them towards securing electoral victories for the ADC in 2027.
“We are committed to providing a level playing ground for all aspirants and creating the necessary support system for the success of the party. Achieving this will require coordination, unity, and collective commitment,” Okoroma stated.
In his response, Chief Ugorji expressed appreciation to the leadership of the party for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work closely with all Assembly aspirants to strengthen the ADC’s grassroots structure across the state.
He also commended former Imo State Governor and leader of the ADC in the state, Emeka Ihedioha, for what he described as purposeful leadership and for making the party accessible and attractive to both aspirants and members.
Chief Ugorji stressed the need for unity, collaboration, and strategic engagement among party stakeholders, noting that collective effort would be critical to the ADC’s chances in the 2027 elections.
Political observers in the state described the appointment as a strategic move capable of deepening cohesion among the party’s Assembly hopefuls, citing Ugorji’s leadership disposition, grassroots connectivity, and growing influence within the ADC structure in Imo State.
