ADC South East Leaders Pay Condolence Visit to Amaechi Over Mother's Death

The leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the South East on Friday paid a condolence visit to the Vice Presidential candidate of the party for the 2027 general election, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, following the passing of his beloved mother, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi, who died at the remarkable age of 89.
The high-powered delegation was led by the pioneer founder and former National Chairman of the ADC, Ralph Okey Nwosu, during a condolence visit to Amaechi's Abuja residence on Friday, July 31, 2026.
Among the prominent party leaders in attendance were Chikwendu Udensi, Onyinye Nwagbara, and Kenneth Okonkwo, alongside other senior officials and stakeholders of the ADC from across the South East geopolitical zone.
The delegation conveyed its heartfelt sympathy to Amaechi and his entire family, praying that God would grant them the strength, comfort, and fortitude to bear the painful loss. They described the late Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi as a devoted mother whose legacy of humility, discipline, and service would continue to inspire generations.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Chief Ralph Nwosu emphasized that moments of grief transcend politics and call for compassion, solidarity, and shared humanity. He noted that the ADC family stands united with Amaechi during this difficult period and assured him of the party's prayers and unwavering support.
The condolence visit also reflected the growing unity within the ADC as the party continues consultations and mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections. Party leaders used the opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to strengthening internal cohesion while supporting one another through moments of personal loss.
Amaechi, a former Governor of Rivers State, former Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, former Chairman of the Nigeria Governors' Forum, and former Minister of Transportation, is the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Vice Presidential candidate, running alongside the party's presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Since the announcement of his mother's passing, Amaechi has continued to receive an outpouring of condolences from political associates, traditional rulers, religious leaders, friends, supporters, and well-wishers from across Nigeria, reflecting the widespread respect he commands in the country's political landscape.
Friday's visit by the ADC South East leadership further underscored the party's culture of solidarity and compassion, as leaders gathered not for politics but to identify with one of their own during a period of profound personal grief.
