AGWA, OGUTA LGA, IMO STATE, NIGERIA – The Agwa For Omeudo (AFO) 2027 political movement has held its fifth strategic executive meeting in Agwa, reaffirming its commitment to mobilising grassroots support for Hon. Engr. Kingsley Chima Uju, Omeudo I of Niger Delta (MFR), ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election for Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta/Oru-West Federal Constituency.
The meeting, held on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at the movement's headquarters in Agwa, also featured the announcement of plans to unveil 2,000 vote canvassers as part of its grassroots mobilisation and electoral engagement strategy for Uju's anticipated return to the Green Chambers.
The meeting was presided over by the Convener of AFO, Hon. John Mbonu Uchenwoke-Ekperechi, a former 2023 African Democratic Party (ADC) House of Assembly candidate and Convener of Renaissance Oguta Constituency (ROC). Other principal coordinators in attendance included Chief Andrew Ohagim, Obudi/Aro Ward Coordinator; Comr. Loveday Ndubuisi Alugburu, Mgbala/Ubah Ward Coordinator; and Comr. Anthony Obinna Abaleke, Uwaorie Ward Coordinator.
The meeting followed the official inauguration of Agwa For Omeudo, held on October 25, 2026, at the Central School Obudi-Agwa field, which attracted over 1,000 participants from the three wards in Agwa.
Speaking at the meeting, Uchenwoke-Ekperechi appreciated members of the executive for their commitment, consistency and willingness to respond to the movement's activities, including meetings convened at short notice.
He also commended the executive members for what he described as their political maturity and issue-based approach to campaigning for Uju, emphasising the movement's commitment to evidence-oriented engagement and fact-checked political communication.
The AFO Convener further commended Uju for his decision to return to the political contest, describing it as an opportunity to address what he characterised as years of poor representation in the oil-rich federal constituency.
He said:
"I want to doff my cap to my coordinators and the entire executive members. You have done marvellous things. Agwa is for Omeudo come 2027. There's no controversy about it.
"We were just inaugurated seven days ago and came on board two weeks ago. Since then, we have held our fifth executive meeting, comprising the three wards in Agwa, with the objective of marketing the candidacy of Omeudo to the people.
"Even though Omeudo is not a strange name in Agwa, every election comes with different challenges and peculiarities. It is these differences that we have taken it upon ourselves to address by educating voters in Agwa on why Hon. Uju should be voted for in 2027.
"We are seriously challenging other political opponents, if there are any in this contest, to engage in issue-based, evidence-oriented and fact-checked campaigns, rather than grandstanding, intimidation and empty promises," he noted.
AFO TARGETS 2,000 VOTE CANVASSERS ACROSS 47 INEC POLLING UNITS
Providing further details on the proposed 2,000 vote canvassers, Uchenwoke-Ekperechi, who is also the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Inside Agwa News, explained that the initiative was designed to establish adequate grassroots human coverage across the 47 INEC polling units in Agwa's three wards.
According to him, the canvassers would be responsible for voter mobilisation, political engagement and monitoring the electoral process to protect the votes of supporters during the January 16, 2027 election.
He stated:
"We want to repeat the Osun State scenario in Agwa and the federal constituency. While the ruling party is relying on the power of incumbency and state resources, we have our resources and the people.
"This move will strengthen the unity of our people to challenge the naked show of power, sheer tyranny and electoral fraud. This may be their only chance of winning the election because they have lost touch with the people of Agwa and the federal constituency."
He further disclosed that the executive had been scheduled to reconvene on November 15, 2026, to formalise the 2,000 vote canvassers' structure and commence preparations for their official inauguration.
Uchenwoke-Ekperechi reiterated the movement's political declaration, which he said was informed by a careful assessment of the available political options and the task ahead of the 2027 federal constituency election.
He said:
"We have told ourselves that party or no party, Hon. Kingsley Chima Uju, we know. We made this decision having considered the options available to us ahead of the 2027 Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta/Oru-West Federal Constituency election and the task ahead.
"To give teeth to our commitment, let us take this decision as a challenge that will result in victory come 2027 for the betterment of Agwa and the federal constituency at large. May we never go back to Egypt and Somalia again," he concluded.
WARD COORDINATORS, STAKEHOLDERS REAFFIRM COMMITMENT
In his contribution, Chief Andrew Ohagim, the Obudi/Aro Ward Coordinator, urged the ward coordinators and other executive members to intensify grassroots mobilisation without further delay, noting that the November 15 deadline for formalising the proposed canvassers' structure was approaching.
He expressed confidence in the movement's capacity to deliver the expected electoral support for Uju across Agwa's polling units.
"We have taken this task as a challenge. We will not fail. Omeudo must clear all the votes in Agwa. There is nobody here that is a stranger in his or her booths.
"Let us stop them from rigging the 2027 elections. The best way to do it is to outnumber them in the booths. We must do it with all our strength and wait for victory," Ohagim stated.
Also speaking, Mr. Jude Okereke, Chairman of the Agwa Cyclist Union, commended members of Agwa For Omeudo 2027 for their commitment to the political movement.
Okereke described Uju as Agwa's preferred political option, expressing dissatisfaction with what he considered the present government's treatment of the people of the community.
He recalled Uju's four-year tenure as a positive period for Agwa and the entire federal constituency, urging residents and political stakeholders to contribute their efforts towards his anticipated return to the National Assembly in 2027.
Similarly, Mrs. Loveth Akabueze Obodo, Woman Leader of Obudi/Aro Ward, who spoke on behalf of the women, appreciated Uju for his previous contributions and representation.
She maintained that his record of service was responsible for the growing calls for his return to the Green Chambers in 2027.
Obodo affirmed that Agwa women were strongly committed to the AFO 2027 project and expressed their readiness to participate actively in the electoral process and exercise their franchise on election day.

Kingsley Chima Uju in Agwa, while emphasising political participation, electoral vigilance, issue-based engagement and the importance of effective representation for the people of Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta/Oru-West Federal Constituency.
