House of Representatives aspirant for Kosofe Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Oluremi Oluwalogbon Odunsi, has rejected the results being circulated from the party’s primary election reportedly held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, maintaining that no valid election took place in the constituency.
Odunsi stated that the figures and declarations currently in circulation do not reflect any recognised voting process conducted within the constituency on the scheduled date.
In a statement issued after the exercise, the aspirant described the situation as inconsistent with the procedures and guidelines laid down by the All Progressives Congress for the conduct of primary elections.
“I reject the purported results being circulated and announced in respect of the primary election held yesterday,” she stated.
According to Odunsi, her position is based on the claim that no voting exercise was conducted in Kosofe Federal Constituency during the period scheduled for the primary election.
She expressed concern over the circulation of figures and declarations despite what she described as the absence of an actual electoral process, arguing that such actions could undermine confidence in the credibility and transparency of the exercise.
The APC aspirant called on the leadership and relevant stakeholders of the party to intervene and safeguard the integrity of the primary process, stressing that transparent and credible internal elections remain essential to the party’s democratic image and cohesion.
“Accordingly, I do not recognise or accept the purported outcome being circulated, as acknowledging the results would amount to endorsing a process that did not follow due process,” she said.
Odunsi further disclosed that a formal petition and appeal outlining her observations and concerns had already been submitted to the appropriate party authorities for urgent consideration and review.
She urged party officials at both the state and national levels to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged declaration of results, noting that a thorough review would help restore confidence among aspirants, delegates, and party members within the constituency.
The aspirant reaffirmed her loyalty to the APC and its democratic ideals, stating that her actions were intended to strengthen internal democracy and promote adherence to established procedures ahead of the general elections.
She maintained that she remains committed to the unity, integrity, and democratic principles of the party. As of the time of filing this report, the APC had not issued an official response to the allegations raised by the aspirant.
