2026 Mathematics Olympiad: Imo Pupil Wins Gold for Nigeria in Rome

An 11-year-old mathematics prodigy from Imo State, Master Onyedikachi Egejurum of Diamond Special College, Owerri, has made Nigeria proud after winning the Gold Medal at the 2026 International Mathematics Olympiad held in Rome, Italy.
The young scholar emerged victorious after competing against more than 10,000 pupils from different countries in the highly competitive primary category of one of the world's most prestigious mathematics competitions for young learners.
Onyedikachi was among only three Nigerian pupils selected to represent the country at the international event. His exceptional performance earned him the coveted gold medal, placing Nigeria among the top-performing nations at the global competition.
His remarkable achievement has been widely celebrated as a testament to the brilliance of Nigerian children and the growing potential of the country's education sector on the international stage.
