Catholic Men Organization Mourns Ethelbert Nnanna, Announces September 17 Vigil Mass

OWERRI, Imo State — Former member of the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Chief Sir Ethelbert Nze Nnanna, has died.
Nnanna, a prominent indigene of Umuomara Obeama, Agwa, in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, was a former Managing Director of Adapalm Nigeria Limited and former Chairman of Oguta Local Government Area.
He represented Oguta State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly from 2003 to 2007.
During his public career, Nnanna held several leadership positions and was regarded as a prominent political figure in Oguta and Imo State. He was also a member of the ruling party and a supporter of Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma.
The Catholic Men Organization (CMO), St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Chaplaincy, Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, described Nnanna as a devoted Catholic and committed member of the organization.
The organization announced that a Vigil Mass in his honour will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the church premises at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.
Nnanna's political career also included an electoral dispute arising from the 1998 Oguta Local Government chairmanship election, which later reached the Court of Appeal.
He is survived by children and relations. Tributes are expected from political associates, community leaders and members of the Catholic community.
