Former Obi Campaign Coordinator Declares for Imo Governorship

‎By Obinna Obiozor

‎Former presidential campaign coordinator for Peter Obi, Ifeanyi Thaddeus Ezeagu, has officially declared his intention to contest the Imo State governorship election.

‎Ezeagu announced his ambition during a meeting with supporters and political stakeholders, where he unveiled his vision for the state and pledged to focus on security, education, job creation, citizens’ welfare, and efficient service delivery if elected.

‎The governorship aspirant said his administration would prioritise transparency, accountability, youth empowerment, and people-oriented governance aimed at restoring public confidence in leadership.

‎According to him, improving security across Imo State remains essential for economic growth, investment, and social stability, stressing that development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity.

‎“Our people deserve a government that listens, protects lives and property, creates opportunities for young people, and delivers the dividends of democracy fairly across all communities,” Ezeagu stated.

‎He also promised to revamp the education sector through the rehabilitation of schools, improved welfare packages for teachers, and expanded skills acquisition programmes designed to reduce unemployment and empower youths across the state.

‎Ezeagu further assured residents that his administration would run an inclusive government focused on grassroots development and policies that directly impact ordinary citizens.

‎Speaking on youth involvement in governance, he maintained that the future belongs to visionary young leaders prepared to bring innovation, energy, and fresh ideas into public service.

‎Political analysts and supporters at the event described his emergence as part of a growing movement advocating a new generation of leadership in Imo State and Nigeria at large.

‎Observers noted that the entry of younger politicians with reform-driven agendas could encourage older political stakeholders and elders in the state to support credible youth-led initiatives capable of advancing the development of Imo State.

‎His declaration has already begun generating reactions within the state’s political space, as stakeholders assess the possible impact of his entry into the evolving governorship race ahead of the next election.
