Imo Wu Otu Orsu Chapter Holds Strategic Interactive General Meeting Ahead of 2027 Elections, Set to Inaugurate Booth Army and Vote Canvassers

ORSU, IMO STATE – In a renewed demonstration of political organization and grassroots engagement, the Imo Wu Otu, Orsu Local Government Area Chapter, has commenced a comprehensive membership drive and strategic mobilization campaign aimed at strengthening its structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The strategic interactive general meeting, hosted by Hon. Arthur Obinakwara alongside other prominent leaders of the movement, brought together members, coordinators, stakeholders, and supporters committed to repositioning the organization for greater political participation and community engagement across Orsu and beyond.
The gathering served as an opportunity to review the progress of the organization, assess its grassroots structures, and outline practical strategies for expanding its membership base throughout the local government area. Discussions also centered on establishing a stronger organizational framework capable of sustaining effective political mobilization in the build-up to the 2027 elections.
Among the notable personalities in attendance were the Director-General of Imo Wu Otu, Hon. (Mrs.) Florence Asonye; Ukandu John Okafor (Mayor); Engr. Bede Ojimba; Raja Madueke; Hon. Arthur Obinakwara; and several pioneer founders and leaders of the movement.
Delivering her welcome address, the Director-General, Hon. (Mrs.) Florence Asonye, popularly known as the "Iron Lady," emphasized the importance of unity, discipline, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to the ideals upon which Imo Wu Otu was founded.
She described the 2027 general elections as "a moment of reality for Ndi Imo and Nigerians," urging members to remain focused, organized, and committed to building a formidable grassroots movement capable of influencing positive political outcomes.
Mrs. Asonye also commended the leadership qualities, credibility, and competence of the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), Mr. Peter Obi, as well as his running mate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. According to her, their leadership vision represents ideals capable of inspiring national development and good governance.
The Director-General praised members of Imo Wu Otu for their resilience and dedication over the past fifteen years, noting that the organization has evolved into one of the most influential socio-political movements in Orsu and across Imo West Senatorial District.
She disclosed that plans are already underway to expand the movement's structures into Imo East and Imo North Senatorial Districts, with the objective of creating a truly statewide platform committed to promoting responsible leadership, unity, and sustainable development.
A major highlight of the meeting was the announcement of plans to inaugurate a Booth Army and a network of Vote Canvassers across polling units. The initiative is expected to strengthen grassroots political education, improve voter mobilization, coordinate election-day activities, and encourage greater citizen participation during the 2027 general elections.
Participants also deliberated extensively on strategies to consolidate the organization's leadership structure, deepen grassroots outreach, recruit new members, and strengthen ward, booth, youth, and women coordinators throughout Orsu Local Government Area.
Speakers at the meeting unanimously reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining unity within the organization, promoting peaceful political participation, and sustaining community engagement as essential pillars for achieving the movement's objectives.
Imo Wu Otu continues to draw inspiration from the leadership philosophy of the late former Governor of Imo State, Dr. Samuel Onunaka Mbakwe, whose administration remains widely respected for its emphasis on infrastructural development, inclusive governance, educational advancement, and the promotion of peace and unity among the people of Imo State.
The movement reiterated its vision of building a united, peaceful, secure, and prosperous Imo State through grassroots participation, inclusive leadership, community development, and democratic engagement.
At the conclusion of the meeting, members unanimously renewed their commitment to expanding the organization's presence across all parts of Imo State. They also resolved to strengthen both the men's and women's wings, intensify membership recruitment, activate polling-unit structures, and ensure that every adopted candidate endorsed by the Imo Wu Otu family receives maximum grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting ended with expressions of optimism and solidarity as members pledged to work collectively towards building a stronger political movement anchored on unity, service, and the collective aspirations of the people of Imo State.
