Inside Agwa News Celebrates Former ACU President-General, Benson C. Akunya

AGWA, OGUTA LGA, IMO STATE — Inside Agwa News (IAN) celebrates Barr. Benson C. Akunya, Esq., a pioneer President-General of the Agwa Central Union (ACU), in recognition of his historic role in the formation of the union and his contributions to the peace, unity and development of Agwa Clan.
Barr. Akunya remains an uncommon figure in the history of Agwa. As one of the principal leaders behind the formation of the Agwa Central Union, the apex socio-cultural organisation established to promote the unification, development and socio-cultural wellbeing of the clan, he helped lay an important foundation for collective community leadership.
His tenure as the pioneer President-General came at one of the most challenging periods in Agwa's history. The clan had been engulfed in a prolonged community crisis that lasted for nearly three years, resulting in loss of lives, destruction of buildings and severe damage to economic livelihoods.
At that critical moment, Barr. Akunya provided leadership through the difficult period and was instrumental in efforts that helped restore peace and stability across Agwa. His administration also recorded development strides despite the difficult circumstances confronting the clan.
IAN therefore joins his family, friends, associates and well-wishers to celebrate him for his service and the role he played in helping Agwa navigate a turbulent chapter of its history.
An accomplished lawyer and scholar, Barr. Akunya is also recognised for his philanthropic disposition, empathy and commitment to humanity. His approach to community service has been associated with integrity, constructive relationships and a strong sense of responsibility to the people.
Inside Agwa News acknowledges, in particular, his contribution to building a platform through which the different communities of Agwa could pursue common interests and work towards peace and collective progress.
On this special occasion, the management and staff of IAN extend their warmest wishes to Barr. Benson C. Akunya, Esq., and his family.
