INEC DECLARES POST-MAY 30 PARTY PRIMARIES INVALID
The Independent National Electoral Commission has reaffirmed that political party primaries conducted after the commission's May 30 deadline remain invalid unless overturned by a competent court.
The electoral body noted that its position is guided by an existing Federal High Court judgment and emphasized the importance of compliance with established electoral timelines as political parties continue preparations for future elections.
FG DEBT REPAYMENTS EXCEED BUDGET PROJECTION BY N1.9 TRILLION
Fresh data from the Budget Office of the Federation indicate that the Federal Government's debt servicing obligations exceeded budget projections by approximately N1.90 trillion during the first nine months of 2025.
According to the third-quarter Budget Implementation Report, total debt-related payments, including domestic debt, foreign debt, and sinking fund obligations, reached N12.63 trillion between January and September, surpassing the prorated budget estimate of N10.74 trillion. The increase represents an overrun of 17.65 percent.
GUNMEN KILL VIGILANTE, ABDUCT FOUR RESIDENTS IN ABUJA
Armed assailants reportedly attacked the Byazhin community in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, killing a vigilante operative and abducting four residents.
Residents said the attack occurred in the early hours of Thursday, with witnesses describing the attackers as heavily armed. Security agencies are reportedly investigating the incident and pursuing efforts to secure the safe return of the abducted victims.

Nollywood actor and politician Emeka Ike has expressed concern following reports that his personal information was exposed in an alleged data leak involving the Independent National Electoral Commission.
