‎Former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, has alleged that Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, failed to implement an agreed power-sharing arrangement within the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the defection of political stakeholders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party.

‎Speaking on recent political developments in Delta State, Omo-Agege claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had endorsed a 60-40 sharing formula designed to accommodate both long-standing APC members and new entrants into the party structure.

‎According to the former deputy senate president, the arrangement was intended to ensure inclusiveness and maintain harmony within the party during the integration process. He maintained that while similar agreements were reportedly implemented in other states experiencing political realignments, the situation in Delta State unfolded differently.

‎Omo-Agege alleged that members of the governor's political camp assumed dominant control of party structures, leaving many long-serving APC members feeling excluded despite their contributions to the party's electoral successes.

‎"There was a directive from President Tinubu that there should be a 60-40 sharing formula between the old APC and the new entrants. While that arrangement was implemented in other states, Sheriff Oborevwori's camp disregarded it and came in to take over the structures, including those built by party members who worked tirelessly for the APC," he stated.

‎The former lawmaker further expressed concern that party loyalists who had supported the APC over the years were being sidelined following the recent political realignments in the state.

‎Despite the reported disagreements within the party, Omo-Agege insisted that his political influence and grassroots support across Delta State remain strong. He pointed to his performance during the APC Delta Central Senatorial primaries as evidence of sustained popularity among party members and supporters.

‎He noted that extensive consultations with stakeholders preceded the primaries, resulting in what he described as overwhelming support across the senatorial district.

‎"The support of the people for me remains strong. After wide consultations, Senator Ede Dafinone and I secured victories in 84 out of the 85 wards during the Delta Central Senatorial primaries," Omo-Agege said.

‎The allegations add a new dimension to ongoing discussions surrounding party integration, leadership balance, and stakeholder inclusion within the APC in Delta State following recent defections and political realignments.
