Leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oru-West Local Government Area have pledged support for the aspiration of Hon. (Barr.) Chudi Egwe Evans to represent Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta/Oru-West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in 2027, describing him as a credible and capable aspirant with the experience, grassroots appeal, and democratic credentials to provide effective representation.
The support came during a consultation meeting held at the ADC LGA Secretariat in Oru-West, where Barr. Chudi formally presented his aspiration before party stakeholders as part of his ongoing consultations across the three local government areas that make up the federal constituency.
The meeting was attended by the Apex Leader of the LGA, Hon. Kenneth Akunnakwe, and presided over by the LGA Chairman, Ichie Cajetan Onyewuchi, alongside statutory leaders, ward chairmen, women leaders, and party stakeholders.
Addressing the gathering, Barr. Chudi said his aspiration was driven by a desire to offer responsive and human-faced representation, citing what he described as inadequate legislative engagement and the need for a stronger voice laced with legal lines at the Green Chamber for the people and democratic dividends in the oil-producing federal constituency.
He commended the Oru-West leadership for sustaining the party at the grassroots and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing good governance, civic responsibility, civil liberty, resource control, restructuring, and public social welfare if elected.
“I am here to appeal to my leaders, brothers, sisters, and friends to support my ambition to fly the party’s flag in 2027. I am aware of the challenges facing the constituency and, as an advocate for good governance and social justice, I am prepared to offer quality representation that will make our people proud,” he said.
Projecting his profile as a tested aspirant among the contenders, Barr. Chudi highlighted his record in legal advocacy, pro bono public interest services, and community development, describing these as evidence of his preparedness for legislative office.
The Obiakpu-born lawyer, philanthropist, and community leader, also pointed to education and human capital development as central pillars of his vision, referencing scholarship support, mentorship initiatives, and empowerment efforts that have benefited constituents, particularly in Ohaji-Egbema.
“Education remains one of the strongest tools for fighting poverty, insecurity, and ignorance. My commitment has always been to empower people and create opportunities, and that will remain a major focus in public office,” he stated.
On party politics, Barr. Chudi said his decision to join ADC was founded on principle and confidence in the democratic pedigree of leaders associated with the party, while expressing belief that the ADC remains strongly positioned to compete and win in the constituency.
He pledged loyalty to party structures and promised to work with established leaders to strengthen unity and consensus if given the ticket.
“I am a party man. If entrusted with the ticket, I will work with the leadership, unite stakeholders, and fight to victory. My aspiration is anchored on service, not personal ambition,” he added.
Responding, party leaders commended what they described as a well-articulated presentation and praised the aspirant’s political maturity, accessibility, and issue-based approach, while pledging support for his aspiration.
Several leaders reportedly described Barr. Chudi Aisone is one of the most prepared and formidable aspirants in the race, citing his professional background, longstanding advocacy, and connection with grassroots communities as distinguishing strengths.
They urged him to sustain consultations across the constituency and continue building bridges with stakeholders ahead of the party primaries, while emphasizing the need for unity among aspirants and support for whoever eventually emerges.
Political observers say the Oru-West engagement further strengthens Barr. Chudi’s growing momentum within ADC reinforces perceptions of him as a leading contender in the contest, especially as party consultations intensify ahead of the May primaries.
His visit, stakeholders noted, reflects a strategy built on consensus, internal democracy, and grassroots mobilization—qualities many believe position him strongly among aspirants seeking the party’s ticket.
