Prof. Martins Uchenna Nwankwo Elected National President of Holy Ghost College Owerri Old Boys Association

OWERRI — A Professor of Globalization, Terrorism and Integration and Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies, Martins Uchenna Nwankwo, has been elected National President of the Holy Ghost College Owerri Old Boys Association following a keenly contested election held during the Association’s 2026 Reunion.
Prof. Nwankwo emerged victorious after polling 275 votes to defeat his opponent, Marcel Egwuwoke, who secured 40 votes. The election was conducted amid widespread participation by members of the association from across the country and the diaspora.
The presidential election was one of the major highlights of the 2026 reunion, which brought together distinguished alumni, professionals, business leaders, and stakeholders committed to the continued growth and development of their alma mater.
A major milestone recorded during the reunion was the donation of a state-of-the-art Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre valued at ₦500 million by renowned entrepreneur and old boy, Leo Stan Ekeh. The project is expected to significantly enhance digital learning, innovation, and technological advancement within the college.
Speaking after the announcement of the results, members of the association expressed confidence in the new leadership, describing Prof. Nwankwo as a seasoned academic and administrator with the capacity to advance the objectives of the association and strengthen alumni engagement.
Also elected into various national executive positions were Sir Charles Ukwuoma as First Vice President, Barr. Kayode Ojinnaka as Secretary General, Emmanuel Ugwunali as Treasurer, Dr. Anowey Tochukwu Victor as Financial Secretary, Chidiebere Akalawu as Assistant Financial Secretary, Duru Daniel as Public Relations Officer, Emeka Emmanuel as Public Relations Officer II, Odimara Christian as Welfare Secretary, and Ekwebelam Excel as Provost I.
The newly elected executives are expected to steer the affairs of the association over the coming years, with a focus on alumni unity, institutional support, educational development, and the promotion of the values and traditions of Holy Ghost College Owerri.
