Former Adamawa State Governor and governorship aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bindow Jibrilla, has met with Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, amid indications that he is set to defect from the ADC to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The meeting comes shortly after Bindow lost the ADC governorship ticket despite being widely regarded as the leading contender for the party's nomination.
The ADC ticket was instead secured by Omar Sulaiman, a cousin of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, who recently resigned from the party.
Although neither Bindow nor the APC has officially confirmed his defection, sources familiar with the development say arrangements are being concluded for his return to the ruling party.
The development is expected to further reshape the political landscape in Adamawa State ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
