The Oguta Local Government Area (LGA) Campaign Council of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on party members to embrace unity, reconciliation, discipline and intensified grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The call was made on Saturday, 17 October 2026, during the council’s maiden strategic meeting convened by its chairman, Hon. Ezenna Okoro, at the instance of the NDC State House of Assembly candidate for Oguta Constituency, Mr. Ikechukwu David Udogwu.
The meeting was attended by the NDC Oguta LGA Chairman, Engr. Cliff Onundu Osisiaku; the Oguta State Constituency candidate, Hon. Prince Okey Igwe, who also serves as Deputy State Campaign Council Coordinator for Orlu Zone; campaign council members; party leaders; Comr. Viginus Anukanti, the State Coordinator of the Obidient/OK Movement in Imo State, from Awa; and representatives of the eleven wards in Oguta LGA.

Addressing participants, Hon. Ezenna Okoro thanked party leaders, campaign council members and NDC faithful for their commitment and contributions to strengthening the party’s presence across polling units in Oguta, despite its relatively short period of existence.

He emphasised the importance of unity, discipline, internal cohesion and respect for party supremacy, urging members to work collectively towards the success of the party and its candidates in the 2027 elections.

Okoro acknowledged that the preceding months had presented challenges, including divergent opinions and grievances over certain party decisions and experiences. He noted that differences were normal in democratic organisations but cautioned members against allowing personal disagreements to undermine their common objectives.

He therefore urged party members to reconcile their differences, renew their commitment and work towards building a united party ahead of the elections.
On grassroots mobilisation, the campaign council chairman briefed participants on a directive from the party’s national leadership concerning the deployment of six polling unit agents per polling unit. He urged ward leaders and relevant campaign structures to ensure effective implementation of the directive in line with the party’s organisational guidelines.

The NDC Oguta LGA Chairman, Engr. Cliff Onundu Osisiaku, also called for reconciliation and an end to factional disagreements within the party.

He expressed appreciation to party members and leaders at all levels, from the state leadership to the ward structures, and urged them to close ranks, strengthen cooperation and support the party’s candidates for the presidential, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly elections.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Ikechukwu David Udogwu thanked the party leadership and members for their participation and support. He appealed to campaign council members, ward executives and other stakeholders to sustain their cooperation and commitment to the campaign.

Udogwu stressed that unity and collective responsibility would be essential to effective campaign coordination and the achievement of the party’s objectives in the forthcoming elections.

Similarly, Hon. Prince Okey Igwe called for intensified grassroots mobilisation and stronger cooperation among party members. He urged the campaign council and ward structures to mobilise support for all NDC candidates, from the presidential election to the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly elections.

He also underscored the need for a coordinated campaign strategy to strengthen the party’s presence throughout Oguta LGA.
Comr. Viginus Anukanti, the State Coordinator of the Obidient/OK Movement in Imo State, from Awa, urged party members to distinguish themselves from the current ruling party by rejecting monetised politics and political participation driven by financial inducements. He encouraged members to unite in support of Peter Obi and all NDC candidates in the 2027 general elections.

Other officials present included Comr. Chukwudi Justin Uche, Secretary of the Oguta LGA Campaign Council; Mr. Ikenna Osuoha, Organising Secretary; Comr. John Mbonu Uchenwoke-Ekperechi, Publicity Secretary, NDC Oguta LGA; Mrs. Sandra Anatah, LGA Campaign Women’s Mobiliser; and Daniel Njamanze Emose Echefu, LGA Youth Campaign Council Mobiliser.

Also in attendance were ward chairmen, women leaders, youth leaders and other representatives of the eleven wards in Oguta LGA.

At the end of the deliberations, participants reaffirmed their commitment to unity and reconciliation, party discipline, grassroots mobilisation, polling unit organisation and coordinated support for all NDC candidates.

The council also resolved to strengthen collaboration among party executives, ward leaders and campaign officials while promoting constructive engagement to address internal disagreements.

The maiden strategic meeting marked an organisational step in the NDC Oguta LGA Campaign Council’s preparations for the 2027 general elections. Members were urged to respect established party structures and work collectively towards achieving the party’s electoral objectives.

The meeting ended with a renewed commitment to the party’s campaign message: “Together in Unity, Stronger in Purpose, Committed to the NDC, for a Nigeria that works!”
