The Oguta Local Government Area Chapter of the OCHOUDO Mandate Group (OMG), Imo State, has intensified efforts to expand its membership and strengthen grassroots mobilisation in support of the 2027 governorship ambition of Chief Martin Agbaso, popularly known as OCHOUDO.
The group made this known during a strategic meeting convened by its LGA Captain, Hon. John Mbonu Uchenwoke-Ekperechi, who also presents the OCHOUDO Mandate Group Awareness Program. The meeting was held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Mark View Hotel, Ogbaku.
Addressing participants, Uchenwoke-Ekperechi thanked the Ward Captains for their commitment to the movement and consistent attendance at meetings despite the political and geographical diversity of Oguta LGA, comprising the southern, central and northern blocs.
He emphasised the need for a government that would deliver inclusive development across Imo State, reiterating the group's slogan, "Imo that Works for All."
The LGA Captain also commended the founder of OCHOUDO, Chief Martins Agbaso, for his political experience and leadership credentials in Imo State and Nigeria. He acknowledged Agbaso's representation of Owerri Zone in the Senate and his service as a Special Adviser under former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
On membership registration, Uchenwoke-Ekperechi urged all OMG members and intending members to register on the group's membership portal and become registered members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
"The essence of our meeting today is to direct all ward captions to start registering all our members and intending ones into the OCHOUDO membership registration portal and the NDC.
"The two portals registrations are seamless and can work even on android phones. For it is an aberration if we can populate the OMG without being a Bonafide Member and as well NDC, being the party for which our Principal Chief Martin Agbaso and Mr. Peter Obi will be contesting for governorship and president in 2027 respectively," he said.
He further disclosed that the group had been directed to finalise its ward and LGA executive lists and submit them to the secretariat on or before October 14, 2026. He encouraged all Ward Captains to work closely with their teams to meet the deadline while strengthening membership registration and grassroots mobilisation.
Contributing to the discussion, the Uwaorie Ward Captain, Mr. Lawrence Ozoemena Hyacinth, highlighted challenges confronting members attempting to register with the NDC. He explained that some individuals who previously registered with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) before joining the NDC alongside Peter Obi encountered difficulties reconciling their National Identification Numbers (NINs) on the NDC registration portal.
Similarly, Anaele Ugochukwu, Mgbala/Ubah Ward Captain, identified the absence of phone numbers, NINs and email addresses among some members as additional obstacles to registration on both the NDC and OMG platforms. He suggested that manual registration be considered for individuals unable to complete the digital process.
Mrs. Nkechi Ukachukwu, the Oguta Ward A Woman Leader, who represented the Ward Captain, also described the NIN verification issue as a major challenge. She observed that individuals without NINs might be unable to complete NDC registration digitally and recommended that manual and online registration operate side by side to improve participation.
The LGA Youth Leader, Anthony Obinna Abaleke, encouraged members to complete their registration and prepare for intensified mobilisation in support of Chief Martin Agbaso and Mr. Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 elections.
The meeting ended with participants reaffirming their commitment to the OCHOUDO Mandate Group, the Nigeria Democratic Congress and the pursuit of an "Imo that Works for All" under the leadership of Chief Martin Agbaso.
Those present at the meeting included Hon. Abanifee Freed, Onyeaghala Chisimdiri Enerst, Mrs. Ezeani Mercy, Mazi Chibuike, Mrs. Nkechi Ukachukwu, Mr. Lawrence Ozoemena Hyacinth, Anthony Obinna Abaleke and Anaele Ugochukwu.
