Owerri Municipal Council Reaffirms Loyalty to APC Leadership, Commends Ibezim

OWERRI, IMO STATE — The leadership of the Owerri Municipal Legislative Council has reaffirmed its loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in Imo State and pledged continued support for initiatives aimed at strengthening the party at the grassroots.
The council made its position known during a courtesy visit to the APC State Secretary, Hon. Onyekachi Ibezim, in Owerri.
The delegation was led by the Council Leader, Rt. Hon. Soronnadi Justice Chijioke, who said the visit was aimed at strengthening the relationship between elected representatives at the grassroots and the party leadership.
Soronnadi Justice described Ibezim as an “Icon of Hope and a Pillar of Loyalty,” commending his commitment to the growth and stability of the APC in the state.
He said the visit was not merely ceremonial but reflected the council’s confidence in the party’s leadership and its determination to maintain constructive engagement with relevant stakeholders.
The Council Leader also reaffirmed the council’s support for the leadership of Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, whom he identified as the leader of the APC in Imo State.
He called for continued cooperation among elected representatives, party leaders and grassroots stakeholders, stressing that political stability and effective governance require unity, communication and a shared commitment to the welfare of the people.
According to him, councillors occupy an important position in the political structure because of their proximity to the grassroots and their responsibility to ensure that government policies and programmes effectively reach residents.
The council further expressed its loyalty to the APC State Chairman, Hon. Austin Onyedebelu, saying its members remained committed to strengthening the party structure and promoting unity among members across the state.
Soronnadi Justice said the council would continue to work with party stakeholders to strengthen grassroots participation and build partnerships capable of translating political cooperation into development.
He added that political loyalty should ultimately be reflected in responsible representation and tangible benefits for the people.
Receiving the delegation, Ibezim expressed appreciation for the visit and the confidence demonstrated by the council leadership.
The meeting featured discussions on party unity, grassroots mobilisation, effective representation and improved cooperation between party structures and elected representatives.
Both sides also emphasised the importance of maintaining open channels of communication to promote greater coordination among APC stakeholders.
The Council Leader was accompanied by the Majority Leader, Rt. Hon. Austin Agbugba; Chief Whip, Hon. Chris Onyenwere; Hon. Chika Collin-Obi; and Hon. Kelechi Nnoaham, alongside other members and associates of the council.
Soronnadi Justice said the council would remain focused on its responsibilities to residents of Owerri Municipal while maintaining constructive relationships with political and government stakeholders.
He assured residents that the council would continue to support programmes and initiatives focused on peace, development, stability and improved living conditions.
The engagement ended with both sides expressing confidence in continued cooperation and stronger collaboration between the APC leadership and the Owerri Municipal Legislative Council.
