PDP's Olaka Nwogu Wins Rivers South East Senatorial Bye-Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olaka Nwogu, winner of the Rivers South East Senatorial District bye-election held on Saturday.
The Returning Officer for the election, Professor Rosemary Ogu, announced the results at the Rivers South East Senatorial District Collation Centre located at the Khana Local Government Council Secretariat in Bori, Rivers State.
According to the official results released by INEC, Nwogu secured a total of 46,961 votes to emerge victorious in the contest.
The PDP candidate defeated his closest challenger, Osarokaka Ebenezer Erewari of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 1,647 votes.
Nwogu, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented Etchie/Omuma (2003-2011), and a prominent political figure in Rivers State, will now represent Rivers South East Senatorial District in the Senate following his victory in the bye-election.
INEC stated that the election was conducted across the senatorial district in accordance with electoral guidelines, culminating in the declaration of the PDP candidate as the duly elected senator.
The outcome of the election further strengthens the PDP's political presence in the Rivers South East Senatorial District.
