Senator Seriake Dickson has formally received members of the House of Representatives who recently defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), describing their decision as a bold step towards strengthening democratic values and national unity.
The lawmakers paid a courtesy visit to interact with the leadership of the party and reaffirm their commitment to the NDC’s vision for a more inclusive and democratic Nigeria. The meeting was attended by prominent political figures, including former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, who later joined the gathering.
Speaking during the meeting, Senator Dickson expressed appreciation to the defecting lawmakers for their loyalty and confidence in the party. He commended them for standing by their political convictions and aligning with the NDC’s mission of national development, democratic consolidation, and responsible leadership.
He urged the lawmakers to remain committed to defending the democratic rights of Nigerians and cautioned against attempts to undermine multiparty democracy in the country. According to him, the lawmakers must continue to work closely with their constituents and party leadership in promoting good governance and effective representation.
The former Bayelsa State Governor also received former Senator representing Gombe South, Amos Bulus, who formally joined the NDC from the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside members of his political team.
Similarly, Prince Yahaya Audu led a delegation from Kogi State into the party, where they were warmly welcomed by the NDC leadership. Senator Dickson noted that the growing wave of defections into the party reflects increasing national confidence in the NDC’s political direction and democratic ideals.
During the event, the Delta State chapter of the NDC donated a vehicle to support party activities. Senator Dickson appreciated the gesture and commended party members and supporters across the country for their continuous sacrifices and contributions towards the growth of the party.
He emphasized that the NDC is sustained through the collective support and commitment of Nigerians who believe in the party’s vision, stressing that the party is not controlled or financed by any single individual or government institution.
Senator Dickson further called on patriotic Nigerians and supporters of democracy to continue supporting the party through active participation, donations, and grassroots mobilization, noting that the NDC remains committed to building a united, democratic, and prosperous Nigeria for all citizens.
